Thursday 30 O'Clock PM
Kingston February 28th 1878

A Special Meeting of the Council of the Corporation
of the City of Kingston to take up general business
was held this day. Present:

His Worship the Mayor
Alderman:
Allen, Anglin, Asselstine, Carson, Clements,
Drennan, Fee, Gaskin, Metcalfe, Mooers,
McCammon, McRossie, Pense, Price, Thompson,
Walkem, Woods.

A Communication from George M Macdonnell
Solicitor fo Queens College was read calling the attention
of the Council to the state of the Water Course passing through
Queens College grounds.

On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald Walkem
Ordered, That the Communicaiton of Mr George
M Macdonnell be referred to the Committee on Streets
to report.

The Mayor made a verbal Report in Re Finances
of the City.

Ald Drennan moves seconded by Ald Price
That having heard a verbal of the Finance
Committee from His Worship the Mayor that it is not
expedient to appropriate any outlay for drainage at
present.

In amendment,
Ald McCammon moves seconded by Ald Woods
That the drainage question be referred back to
Committee on Streets with instructions to reduce the expenditure
as the Finances of the City will not at the present time admit
of such an expenditure - which being put was carried
and the original motion was lost Yeas on amendment 14
Nays 2

On motion of Ald Pense seconded by Ald Thompson
Ordered, That the City Chamberlain be required
to furnish this Council at its next meeting with a synopsis
of the Corporation account for 1877 and of existing assets
and liabilities on current account.

On motion the Council adjourned
