Kingston February 25 1878

A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the
City of Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Anglin, Asselstine, Carson, Drennan,
Dupuis, Fee, Gaskin, Gildersleeve, Metcalfe,
Mooers, McCammon, McRossie, Price, Thompson,
Walkem, Wilson, Woods

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting

A communication from P Burns was read stating
some return should be made him for amount paid
by him for taxes.

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Walkem
Ordered, That the case of P Burns be referred to the
Committee on City Property to report.

A communication from John Brokenshire was read
stating he is prepared to furnish plates properly lettered
naming the streets in the City.

Also a communication from H Stattaraffe Smith
was read on a similar subject offering to furnish the
names of the streets at a certain price.

On motion of Ald Walkem seconded by Ald Carson
Ordered, That the communications of R Brokenshire
and HS Smith be referred to the Committee on Streets
to report.

A Communication from GW Leslie was read on the
subject of numbering the houses in the City.

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Wilson
Ordered, That the communicaiton of GW Leslie be
referred to the Committee on Streets to report.

A Communication from William Anglin was read
calling attention to a former letter asking permission to extend
his Wharf inside the Railway Track and requesting it may
be granted.

On motion of Ald Drennan, seconded by Ald Woods
Ordered, That the Communication of Mr William
Anglin be referred to the Committe on Wharves and Harbor
to report.

A Communication from James Agnew City Solicitor was
read enclosing a By Law to confirm the several sales of City
Property that have taken place.

A Communication from the Right Reverend Dr
O'Brien Bishop of Kingston was read thanking the Council
for the tribute of respect paid to the memory of the late Pius IX
by placing the City flags half mast.

Petitions from AR Macdonnell, Fraser George and
P Nugent respecting taxes were submitted
