Ordered, That the petition of Alfred Maxam Capt
of Hook and Ladder Company be referred to the Commitee
on Fire, Water and Gas to report.

Ald Drennan brought up the petition of the Irish
Societies praying the Council will remit Rent of Halls
or make a grant of a sum equal to the rent.

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That in regard to the petition of the
Irish Societies said petition cannot legally be granted
but this Council grant the sum of Twenty two dollars
and fifty cents in lieu of said Rent &c.

Ald Woods brought up the petition of FJ George
respecting taxes.

On motion of Ald Woods seconded by Ald Clements
Ordered, That the petition of FJ George Esq concerning
taxes of lots 717 & 718 for 1877 be referred to the Court of
Revision.

Ald Walkem brought up the petition of Mrs John
Rowlands respected taxes.

Snowden and 43 others praying for the removal of obstructions
on Gordon street.

and eight others Butchers praying they be allowed to sell
meat in their shops by renting a stall in the Market
building &c
