Fire Department.

On motion of Ald Price seconded by Ald Walkem
Ordered, That the Commuications of James Wilson
and Vandewater & Betts be referred to the Committe on Fire
Water and Gas.

A communication from W Morrison Secretary was read
enclosing Circulars Fire apparatus.

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Allen.
Ordered, That the Communication of Wm Morrison
be referred to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas to report

A Communication from Messrs Kirkpatrick & Rogers in
re claim Misses Rosark for compensation for land taken in
the opening of Montreal street was read.

A Communication from James Agnew City Solicitor was
read on the matter of the above claim.

On motion of Ald Price seconded by Ald Drennan
Ordered, That the communication of Messrs
Kirkpatrick and Rogers and James Agnew be referred to the
Committee on Streets to report.

A Communication from William Robinson Esq MPP
was read on tax exemptions.

On motion of Ald Price seconded by Ald Allen.
Ordered, That the Clerk acknowledge the receipt of
Mr Robinson's letter and advise him that the Council still agree
with petition of the citizens sent to Ald Hallam and are of
opinion that all exemptions should be abolished as therein
petitioned.

Ald Walkem made a verbal communication that at
a meeting of the Court of Revision called to give instructions
to the Assessors, Messrs Donoghue and Bastow tendered their
resignations assigning as a reason that they were unable to
complete their work by the time limited by Statue if they
were compelled to deposit their books every day in accordance
with the Councils resolution - the members of the Court of
Revision induced them to withdraw their resignations and
promised to bring their objections before the Council at the
next regular meeting and endeavour to have the resolution
in question rescinded.

Ald Asselstine entered.

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That the communication so called from
the Court of Revision be referred to the Committee on
Finance and the City Solicitor to report.

Ald Metcalfe entered.

Ald McCammon brought up the petition of the Hook
and Ladder Company praying for same amount of pay
as Hose Company.

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Wilson
