That this Council decide tonight on the man
for City Engineer which being put was lost Yeas 8 Nays 11 and
the orginal motion being put was carried.

A Communication from John Shaw Secretary and Treasurer
Cataraqui Bridge Company was read enclosing a copy of the
opinion of Dr JA Henderson in reference to stock held by the
Corporation.

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Walkem
Ordered, That the Communication of John Shaw be
referred to the Committee on Finance to report.

Sundry petitions respecting taxes for the year were submitted

On motion of Ald McIntyre seconded by Ald Asselstine
Ordered, That the petition of John Brown and others be
referred to the Court of Revision.

Ald Drennan brought up the petition of Messrs Clark and
McCammon Butchers praying for a reduction of stall rent.

Ordered, That the petition of Clark and McCammon be
referred to the Committee on City Property to report at the first meeting
of the Council.

Ald McIntyre brought up the petition of Daniel Flynn
praying he may be reimbursed for outlay by him on ship
in shambles.

On motion of Ald McIntyre seconded by Ald Noble
Ordered, That the petition of D Flynn be referred
to the Committee on City Property.

Ald Drennan brought up the petition of Benjamin
Holder praying compensation for injuries received by falling
into a hole or trap in side walk south side of Princess street
above Barrie street.

Ladder Company praying that their pay be raised to same amount
as paid to Hose Company.
