Dear David,

I received an excellent letter from Keith Morrison. It speaks very
highly of you. Please thank him for me. I need more letters from
people who will write them. You know who these people are better than
I. I tried making some phone calls but I did not get very far, except
with Keith. I will need your help on this. Please ask your friends and
associates to write letters in your behalf to the Distinghished Teaching
of Art Award Committee for 1988 in care of the College Art Association
of America. I would prefer that they send them directly to me so that I
can forward them to the others on the committee. We are not going to
meet in person. This makes my job a little harder since I will not be
able to sit around a table with these people, I can only talk with them
on the phone and exchange letters with them for my candidate, which is you.

I am writings a few letters to the people on the list you sent me of
former students. I do hope you are doing fine and not "Missing something!"
