Type 145(140) large text Type used throughout Bamler's career.
5 varieties of A, 2 of D , 2 of E , M (Haebler M 11 & M 79),
& c. In its first state measures 144 - 146 mm , but the
undated Cassianus is the only book in which this state is
found throughout , parts of all the other books of 1472 - 3
showing the 2nd state of the type when it has been cut down
to 140 - 2 mm . With 1474 the 2nd state seems to entirely
supersede the first.
Capitals Ia. Maiblumen capitals , ca. 42 x 42 mm & more,
white ground [1472 -88] double frame ; apparently in
2 styles , one neater & making more use of parallel
lines as ornament .
"Conferences of Cassianus - the author here recounts his
conversations to the great leaders of Eastern monasticism.
He spent much time in Egypt & Constantinople
before establishing himself in western Europe where he
founded 2 monasteries near Marseilles.
