The Decades of Blondus was a strong example of
Renaissance historiography + a precursor to Gibbon.
Divided into 22 books the Decades traced the history of
Italy from the invasion of the Goths + the destruction of
Rome (410 AD) to Blondus' own times + was left
incomplete at his death. Blondus mad an important
contribution ot humanist historiography by his
through use of philogical +archaeological sources.
-His Decades, the only work of his published before his
death devotes 20 books to period between the 5th C. +
the fall of Frederick II in 1250 + 10 more books to the
period ensuing until 1440.
