First edition of the Herbarius translated into Italian. A preface
by the translator + an index of diseases with their remedies,
in alphabetical order, are newly added.
The woodcuts are printed from the same blocks already
used in the Latin editions, published in wild Italy (1491, 1499,
1502, 1509, 1520). + 1536.
earliest work - Nov 27, 1506/ his name - Della Cicorea XXXII Cap. (chicory) Latin Sponsa Solis
does not appear after 1522 - He was succeded by his son Francesco A. de Biondoni - Venice (1507-22).
Cap 31 - Brionia; Cap 33 - Celamento (Chichorium intybus) L.
Chicory contains much inulir + bitter substances such as lactucopicrin.
It is used a domestic remedy for its bitter-tonic + diuretic
properties. Dried + roasted chicory root is used as an addition to,
or in place of coffee + was much drunk in Europe during
both World Wars. Latin - intibus, means - endive

English Cicorie or Succorie
One of the Compositae of Euressa + N. Africa but naturalized all over
Western Europe; was already known at the time of Pliny, who
recognized its value as a food plant + also its remarkable
effectiveness in purifying the blood.
Herbarius - 2 major sections 1) contains descriptions + medicinal uses of
150 plants all of which grew in Germany 2) 96 chapters - concerned with
the materials of a medicine that were commonly available in the
shapes of apothecaries + spice merchants.

Latinus) The letter however contains considerable material tha tis not in the editions printed in
Italy.
