Farewell my Dearest Father wherever you
do Lie, ye little think Your Daughter
is now condemned to die - In Heaven
amoungst the angels I hope my soul
will dwell, so now my Dearest father
I bid you Twice farewell, soon as
these words were spoken in come
the man of Death, and Kindled
up the fire to stop this Virgins Breath,
she cast her eyes to Heaven Lord
Jesus she did call, Receive my
soul to glory before thy face to fall

There has been but little rain here
since 1st June 1838 its now augt 14th
I don’t think the ground has been wet
more than one Inch this summer & such
an indifferent prospect for a crop of
Corn & Tobacco never was Known
about here

September 4th 1838 no Rain JWGraves yet here
Some little showers passed about
on the last of August but none
here to wet the ground since the
first of June for this morning September
4th 1838 There is frost but none
to hurt Tobacco much. JW Graves
nights very cool since the 1st June
it has generally been extremely hot but night
& day untill lately nights are cool

3 & 4th Sept 1838 frost & I discover my
Tobacco smartly injured JW Graves
