Maurer
Dear Mr. Maurer:
I regret very much that it should have been necessary for you to write me again as you did on May 7th about the pictures I had promised, but we were so terribly rushed before leaving that my secretary tells me the pictures did not get mailed to you until we reached Honolulu. Still, they must have arrived long ago.
It has been very unfortunate that I was compelled to make this Australian lecture tour, but I felt I had to earn the money. The chief difficulty is that I am not able to see the Wrangell Island book through the press and have had to entrust that work to friends who cannot do it as well as I might have myself. However, I am hoping the book will please you when it comes out, which should be in October or November.
I am expecting to be back in the United States in early October and am hoping to see you in that month or in November.
