we hauled ice & cut wood. I started to make
a sled for wood hauling out of lumber
brought from Nome. The sea covered with
young, broken-up ice. Fresh breeze from
the East. Warm. Partly clear.

Crawford and Galle, each with a back pack
started at 1 P.M. for the mountains to climb
the large mountain North of our camp. We have
been calling this mountain "Berry Peak" as shown
on the map, but East of us can be seen another
mountain, which may be "Berry Peak", and until
we are sure of our location we do not know which
is which. The explorers will leave a record
and monument on the mountain and Crawford
intends to do some geological work. I worked
on the wood sled & Maurer put in a floor in
the tents of split logs. Cloudy & light breeze
from the N.E. Sea is ice covered to the horizon
