1876 Augt 20.th Very Hot day. tolerable clear Mr. Lewis Yates & Mr Templeton came here in a 21st Edmond & Jimmie gone down to lower field after my Hogs & Pigs all my Pigs has not been seen Wm first [b_l?] them up. Shucked out our corn nearly this morning Lent 2 1/2 Bushels to [Jules?] for myself meal 1 1/2 1 1/2 Bushels corn for Edmd lent 2 Bus. corn for Peter lent & 1 1/2 Bushels wheat Balance from Woodings for [?] [flon?] Edmd worming & succering Tobacco in Lot Beautiful day Nannie & Miss Frankie dry -ing apples yesterday & to day. This evening This evening I am Down Hunt Sallie Tate Hargrave & Misses Alice Hunt came here and about night Bro. Gacy came here 5 days all night, Sallie T Hargrave Tate Doron. & Alice stayed 3 days 23. rdworming & succering Tobacco in old field 24. th Same work Thurs-day too -- Recd a letter from Saml Gilbert; --Mr Edmond B. Fitzgerald here this day Wm W Moses Jr went home with Ed 25. Edmond Dews Tossing Tobacco for for Peter Adams & they are both gone from home & Tobacco full of worms & suckers. Edmond cleaning up round his corn field finer & doing it up then other side of old prize Barn I want Mt Airy Edmond Hilling up Peters Tobacco & Jimmy & [?] 1/2 this day & himself all day 26 Edmond Fencing round the corn field the other side of Tobacco lot . Cloudy this morning then cleared off pretty Peters [?] gathering [?] Wm got very [f__d?] this year Very warm weather yet. every thing growing [mr g.?] Edmond B Fitzgerald [talks?] & children & my [Julin?] Brooks came here about 12 Oclock to day Saturday : Rained a little this evening

9th Nancy Neal buried at funeral Preacher by Mr Booker to day TS Muling ? to M. 10th Edmond hauling out Manure on turnip patch Jimmie and Peter plowing Laying by corn dry and hot this morning Jimmie laying in hot by corn stores Peter evening

T. 11th Peter plowing in big field Edmond & Jimmie finshed by corn house and went in hot Then other side of old Pine Barn This morning some of them thinning corn Nellie plowing Hot and clear W. 12th Nellie resting today Jimmie plowing in lot by old pine barn Peter plowing in N 20acers or North acerage laying by corn Edmond ? had? some of his gang hilling up tobacco in new ground Wifs y+arnkin hilled up our sweet potatoes Nellie plowing after 12 ol cock some Edmond children thinning corn in Big field 13th Edmd and Peter got wagon and cart to haul up oats This Edmd says they all are in good order 14th Friday very dry and hot weather rains round on Banister yesterday and day before none here Edmd and Jimmie laying up here in fresh ground Peter laying by in big field ground To hard of this above he can't plow it fair morn ing and hot sure enough Sheltie come at 12 a clock and hurt 2 of my fingers on my right hand badly no rain yet hot weather 15 Edmond and Jimmie laying corn in fresh ground above grainery miller resting to day Mannie from working new ground tobacco Finished plowing above

[page] 187 $31.12 1/2Fountain came here to work. This Monday morning Augt. 4 1854 at $12 1/2 Dollars pr month & last Friday he helped us raise Cutting House

Worked every day this week 6 days got Shingles in woods 1 1/2 days the Balance. We finished new Cutting House &c.

Worked this week 5 days getting Shingles 5 days

Worked Monday & Tuesday this week } 2 days Wednesday went to Blunks to raise Barn & then Sick & went home

Came again this morning getting Shingles. Till 29th in evening.

Worked till Friday evening narly 5 days. 5 days

Worked only 4 days this week 4 days Mr Johnson Farmer worked here yesterday 1 day Helping coupling the Rafters &c for Barn.

Only worked 5 days this week 5 days

Only worked 5 days this week 5 days

Worked this day Wednes 1 day 1 day

Worked 1 day Helping raising House 1 day in all F. Wyatt worked on Barn & atting Shingles &c&c 34 days

Mr H. Arnold his Brother & Mr D.Rice came here at 3 Oclock in the [??] on our Porch & finished it in about 2 days |they then went to work on my Prize Shed at the Sum of two Dollars, pr day that is H at $1.00 the other 2 at 50¢ pr each $2 3 men 2 days

Worked 2 days & from 3 Oclock till night the day they came [pr ?]

Mr H Bro. came again about 3 Oclock in ev'ing to work.

The 2 Mr Arnolds worked 2 or 3 Hours this morning & it began to rain & they left.
