A gush of bird song, a patter of dew,
A cloud, and a rainbow's warning,
suddenly sunshine & perfect blue
An April day in the morning.

Life! we've been long together
Thro' pleasant & thro' cloudy weather;
'Tis hard to part when friends
are dear----
Perhaps 'twill cost a sigh - a tear
Then steal away, give little warning,
Choose thine own time;
