humorous literature possible. I feel sure She has truly cultivated the art of seeing always the sunny side - and ignoring the other side - so very much in need of a little sun. After four - Scotty and I went downtown. Met Mr. Rennie - and was so sorry to hear Mrs. Foster was dead - I do feel so sorry for poor Margaret - and I know how badly Mother will be feeling. I bought a card of sympathy and sent it to Margaret. but

such things are so pitifully inadequate that I almost hate to send them. We were home in time for dinner at 6 15 - After dinner Lewies and Scotty and I went for a walk away up King St - and such cutting up - we walked iron railings - sang - and got lost in Negro Town - but arrived back at 8 30 took muskmelon and celery down to Murphy's room Lawson was there and we had a great feed.

At ten Nightingale, Ellis, Fritz and Cochrane came in and we made a lot of noise and ate Laura's - in bed at 10 30 - but I do like the girls down - stairs they are certainly full of fun.
