Tenafly Sept 6th
ECS 1875 about protest [written in pencil on original note]
Dear Madam Anneke,
I have just read
your letter, & sent it to
the President of our association
to consider. Perhaps we may
think it best to make
an address but I had
my thought of it as you.
For the women to take
any interest in the
Centennial Celebration
has all already seemed
to me as absurd, as
it was for the negroes
to celebrate the fourth of July.
[sideways in left margin] I am always glad to hear from you
Sincerely
Thine
E.C.S.
