To the Hon. The Council and House of Representatives of Wisconsin Territory now in session at Madison

Your petitioners would respectfully represent that the seat of justice for Green County M. T. was located by law appointed by your Honorable body on land belonging to me and placing confidence in their judgement I offered fifty acres of land for county purposes in consideration of said location and have made a warranted? deed of said fifty acres as I agreed to the Board of County Commissioners of said Green County for county purposes-and whereas it has been represented that a petition has been presented to your honorable body to repeal the law-establishing the county seat by com. and giving it to a date of the people. I would respectfully remonstrate against the reception of said petition as it will materially injure my private interest-for which I have a right to protect by asking due notice from those who circulated said petition which has not been given to my knowledge, and your petitioner as in duty Bound will ever pray.

Roscoe. Green County W.J. Georges H. Reeder March 2d 1839.
