Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Sept9th62.

To the Hon. body of assembly and Senate of the State of Wisconsin:

We the undersigned, citizens of Sheboygan, deeming our milittary exemption state-law very wise and expedient, have ascertained, that there is a petition going from here to Madison, asking your Hon. body, to repeal our present state law regarding the exemption from military service, so as not to exempt any one in the state, not even Judges and legislators, and would therefore respectfully pray to the Hon. Legislature not to repeal our military exemption-state-law but to let these it remain in force as they are it is; as in our humble opinion there would be no particular need for the repeal, especially as our state almost furnished her quota under the late call of our president and as the repeal of that law would cause great [perplexion?] and disorder in our goodly state. We trust you will in your wisdom grant our petition, and we will forever pray
