To the Hon A. McCartney Hon R. Burt and Hon A.H. Virgin Representatives Madison W.I.

The undersigned School Commissioners of the Snake Hollow School Town in Grant County, W.I. would respectfully represent unto your Honors that a communication was addressed to Madison by O Cole Esq. of this place one of our body requesting an amendment to the Charter granted by the Legislature to James F. Chapman to keep and maintain a Ferry across the Mississippi River at Potosi.

The undersigned believing at the time that said amendment if obtained would not in the least affect the interests of said Chapman so far as his charter was concerned took no action on the matter, but having been since informed of the effects of said amendment to said charter if obtained, to wit to be a virtual repeal of said charter, to Ferry as aforesaid across the Mississippi, would respectfully represent that it is not the wishes of the undersigned that any action may be had that would tend directly or virtually to the repeal of said charter, and pray that if such be the nature, as the undersigned are informed it is, of such amendment, no action be had therein by the Hon the Legislative assembly

Respectfully,
