To the Honarable Legislature of the State of Wisconsin

Whereas the Board of Supervisors for the County of La Crosse having memorialized your Honarable body for the repeal of a portion of the charter of the City of La Crosse as amended by a previous legislature entitled an act to amend an act to incorporate the City of La Crosse said amendment having been approved May 15th 1858.

Your petitioners the Mayor Common Council & Citizens of the City of La Crosse do most respectfully remonstrate to your honarable body against the repeal of the said amendment believing that it would be injurious to the best interests of this city for the following reasons.

The amount per cent of city tax raised for City purposes being more than double the amounts per cent by the the several towns for town purposes & the city also having paid more than one half of the county & state tax for the past two years as apportioned by the county board of Supervisors your petitioners believe that in consideration of the reasons above set forth that the

City should be entitled to the benefits that may accrue from the said amendment and that no injustice is done to the county and your petitioners will ever pray.
