Remonstrance against petitioners contesting the name change from Watertown to "Rushaloo"

Remonstrance of the citizens of Watertown in the County of Jefferson against the change of the name of said town

To the Hon. The Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin.

Considering it an object of importance to effect a change in the name of our Town for reasons already stated in a petition raised before your Honorable bodies, and learning with regret that an individual has influenced a number of persons to sign a remonstrance against said petition, we the undersigned would respectfully represent, that we consider Rushaloo a name applicable to this place and worthy of special consideration on account of being different from the name of any paper or post-office in the United States or its Territories and therefore entirely free from the object on existing against the present name of Watertown.
