To the Hon. The Senate and Assembly of the State of Wisconsin

We the undersigned inhabitants of Columbia County beg leave to represent that the subject of locating our county seat has been agitated for some six or eight years That in the spring of 1850 the question was voted on according to law for and against Wyocena and a large majority of votes cast were against Wyocena but by the management of the clerk (who resided at Wyocena) the returns of several towns were thrown out so as to give a majority in favor of Wyocena, in consequence the Legislature passed a law last year submitting the question again to the people at the last town sections to vote for or against Fort Winnebago and it was decided in favor of Fort Winnebago by a majority of three hundred.

The Board of Supervisors thereupon accepts the Donation of Miss Witt & Bronson of a large block of land and two thousand dollars in cash and have but a contract for building a stone [sail?] to cost over $2400. dollars which is now being erected.

We would therefore respectfully remonstrate against the subject of removing the county seat being again agitated at this time.

March 30th 1852.
