To the Hon. the Council and House of Representatives in Legislative Assembled at Madison, W.T.

The undersigned citizens of Rock County and Territory of Wisconsin most respectfully represent that the interest of the inhabitants of said county require a change in the time of holding the spring term of the District Court in said county to a term at least three or four weeks later than the time now fixed by law and we would further represent to your honorable body that the business of this county cannot be disposed of in one week, and therefore your petitioners would most respectfully ask that Rock County may hereafter be allowed an additional week making a two weeks term of the district court and we your petitioners most sincerely believe that the changes asked for would be beneficial to all concurred; the courts at present are held at a time when the traveling is bad and at that season of the year when those engaged in agriculture are the most busily engaged in preparing the soil and sewing the seed. Your petitioners earnestly hope that the aforesaid changes may be made and as in duty bound &c.
