To the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin

Your petitioners, citizens of the County of Brown, would respectfully represent, that in the present situation of the business and settlement of said county, the public convenience and interest require a change in the law of the territory, concering the holding of certain offices therein named at the seats of justice of the several counties - The change which your petitioners respectfully ask is that the register of deeds for the County of Brown, instead of being compelled by law, as is now the case, to hold his office at Depere, amy be allowed to have or hold his office at the town of Green Bay. In other words, that the same provision with reference to this officer, may be adopted, as is now in force with reference to the Clerk of the Court, sheriff and clerk of the board of supervisors of said county: side -"An Act to provide for holding the District Court within the County of Brown and for other purposes" approved January 13th, 1840.

And your petitioners as in duty bound, will ever pray &c.
