To the Hon Council and House of Representatives of Wisconsin Territory

Whereas your petitioners Gerry Putney and Eley Putney wife of the said Gerry & Jairus Mortimer Putney a minor son of the said Gerry and Eley are prepairing to remove from the United States and that said Jairus Mortimer being possed of a certain forty acres of land and together with his aforesaid parents wishing to deed and convey the same so that the purchesor will have a good and indisuputable title to the same ask your honorable body to impower the said Jairus Mortimer by passing a special act of the legislature to deed said forty acres which is described as follows to wit, the South East Quarter of the North West quarter of section twenty eight town seven range twenty eight - as in duly bound your petitioners will ever pray

We are neighbors and that we are not well acquainted with the above particulars and hereby certify that the facts set fourth in the above petition we believe to be true and that granting this prayer will work no injury to the minor as he is between 17 and 18 years of age and of superior capability by and with the advice of his parents to make good use of the availes of the sale of said land -
