To the council and house of representatives of the Teritory of Wisconsin, we your humble petitioners, the dutch inhabitants of the Teritory aforesaid members of the old Lutheran faith, having settled together we established a church and being unable to understand the English language of necessity do earnestly pray that your honorable body may pass a law authorizing our priest Joachim Fredene Luck to solemnize the rights of marriage between parties competent to make such contract
