To the Hon. The Legislator of the Territory of Wisconsin

The petitioners of the undersigned respectfully showeth that whereas an act of the legislative assembly at its annual [illegible] at Madison of 1840 '41 which [illegible] makes it the duty of the county treasurer to give notice of the sales of lands for taxes in some newspaper publishing in his county, if there be one so published, if not then in some newspaper published at the seat of government now whereas the seat of government is rather remote. That there is publishing establishing much nearer at home at this period. Therefore we petition your Hon. body to pass a special act giving to the county of Calumet the privilege of having their land sales published at Fond du Lac in Fond du Lac County & in the Fond du Lac Journal or some other paper in the same county, and your petitioners shall ever pray &c.
