To the Hon the Legislature of the State of Wisconsin

The undersigned members of the Stockbridge Tribe of Indians residng in Calument County and State of Wisconsin, having for a long time witnessed and experienced their share of the demoralizing and destroying effects of ardent and spirituous liquors both among themselves as well as among all the other Aboriginal Tribes of America, and believing that the passage of "the Maine Liquor Law" or a law prohibiting the free sale of that. "Fire water" which has destroyed and swept away thousands of the Red Men, to be the very law needed, would unite hand and heart with the thousands of voices that come to you from every part of this state, and would and do respectfully pray your Hon. Body to pass and enact such a law.
