Petition of the citizens of Walworth [illegible] for a change of County & town government

Referred, 5th [illegible] to the Com On the Subject of the Change of County government.

To the honorable, the Council & House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin. We the undersigned inhabitants of the County of Walworth would respectfully represent to your honorable body that we regard the present form of town & county government in this territory as inconsistent with the best interests of the people. Therefore we would pray your honorable body that the office of County Commissioner may be abolished - and that the organized towns in the territory be authorised to elect their own officers, and transact their own affairs, and that all taxes for county purposes be levied by a County Board of Supervisors in which each town shall be represented.
