To the Honorable Legislature of the Territory of Wisconsin your petitioners inhabitants of the County of Green respectfully solicit your honorable boddy to appoint commissioners to lay out a territorial road connecting on the Illinois State Line on section thirty one Town one north of range nine east & running on the most eligible route by Monroe in the County of Green to Mineral Point in the Eounty of Iowa or so far as will be necessary to intersect some public road leading to mineral point. Your petitioners are aware of the numerous applications made to your honorable boddy for [illegible] & of the difficulty to distinguish meritorious applications from those not so [illegible]. When you are informed that this road will intersect a state road already laid out from Chicago to the North Line of Illinois & that it will form a direct & continuous route from Chicago to Mineral Point you will be aware of the great advantage to be derived from this road to the inhabitants as well as to the travelling public your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
