Mrs. Karen Perzentka
State Capitol
Madison, Wisconsin

Dear Mrs. Perzentka:

It is very unfortunate that you were the victim of
a robberty on Tuesday, April 22, during the demonstration calling
attention to unjust cuts made by the Joint Finance Committee of
the State Legislature. As someone who knows the plight of the
underprivileged from your own personal experiences, we know that
you sympathize with the cause that brought us to Madison. We
know, also, that none of our demonstrators had any part in this
affair. However, it is too bad that anyone would use the dis-
traction of our demonstration to take advantage of you personally.
You have the sympathy and understanding of all our group.

We have been told that you were re-imbursed; however,
if this is not so, we would be happy to help in recouping your
losses.

Hoping that you will exercise the understanding so
lacking in our legislature, we remain

Sincerely,

VEL R. PHILLIPS
