Dear Sir.
I have received the [card?] & [illegible] [illegible], & have sent
the former to be [illegible] in ours. It may be some [illegible] [illegible]
I [illegible] [illegible] to take up the subject as I am going to-morrow
to the [south?] to arrange some current [illegible] matter & [illegible].

I send you a check in New York,
Corcoran & Ripp No 7142, for fifty dollars, payable
to your [illegible] the [illegible] which I promised.

Instruments cannot give to [illegible] of interest

to Prof. Henry, the have any of the Smithsonian [illegible] takes
part of the income tho' in the [illegible] on [illegible] gain in
