New Haven December 27 - 1826

Sir

I write to acknowledge your letter of the
11th covering a [remittance?] of $41 toward the [American?]
and I thank you for the liberal [illegible] which you
manifest in encouraging a work [designed?] to [illegible]
the public good. The [illegible] & other facts connected
with the state of the journal will observe in the
[awakened?] paper which I have the liberty of sending
in the belief that you may be disposed to
give your influence with others in favor
this work, to that end that you may be
[illegible] of a correct [statement?] of facts.
I conclude that you may with [to?] begin with
the later no of the journal & therefore will find
your No 1 of Vol 1 now in the prep which
will probably be out [illegible] February. Should
you with [illegible] volume, they can be
to you at the original publication
[publisher name?] a volume & I will [illegible]
mention this [illegible].
