Creator: Lapham, Julia Alcott
Folder Description: This folder contains part of a scrapbook assembled by Julia Alcott Lapham, Increase Allen Lapham's daughter, on the life of her father. The periodical and newspaper articles discuss a variety of topics, all centering on the life and accomplishments of Lapham, and a few of the articles are the work of Lapham himself. A rather large article from Scribner's Monthly and written by Thompson B. Maury discusses the Signal Service, storm forecasting and Lapham's fundamental role in storm predictions. Two other pieces stand out, a small genealogical chart of the Alcott family, and a letter of condolence to the Lapham family from the Milwaukee Protestant Orphans' Asylum on the death of Lapham's wife, Ann Marie Alcott Lapham. The articles contained in this folder were taken from the following periodicals and institutional bulletins: American Journal of Science; Wisconsin Agricultural & Mechanical Association; State Historical Society of Wisconsin; Milwaukee Protestant Orphans' Asylum; Scribner's Monthly; The Milwaukee Sentinel; Evening Wisconsin; Portsmouth Courier; Portsmouth Tribune; Sunday Sentinel; The Daily Register; Milwaukee Journal; Hartland News; Yenowine's News; Courier; The Daily Advertiser
