Miss Julia A, Lapham,
Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

Dear Miss Lapham:-

Your letter of the 10th inst to hand, and in reply would say that the old locks are in the same condition as of yore, but will not remain in that condition much longer. The superintendent of Public Works has advertised for the rebuilding of the south side of the locks. The south side will give place to two large locks instead of five as at present. The plans are now open to contractors and the contract will be let the 23d of this month.

I did not know that there was a corner stone in the locks and the information in your letter is quite interesting. I would be pleased to have you send us an account of the old locks, as many in these parsts would be more than interested.

I know an Edward Lapham who formerly resided here but who has since moved to Rochester, and I was curious to know if he was a relative of yours.

Under separate cover I mail you a copy of the REVIEW containing the advertisement of the improvement of the locks.

With best wishes, I remain,

Very yours truly,

T.T. Feeley.
