Went to Watertown by plank road; list of plank roads from Milwaukee; vegetation nearly three weeks more advanced at Watertown than at Milwaukee; summers warmer, winters colder in interior; more rain in interior;- Graves is quarrying limestone for use in Milwaukee; sidewalks should be supported by curb of this stone. Typewritten copy, 2 pp.

[Milwaukee Sentinel Correspondence] Moundville built on ancient artificial mound; John Townley, botanist, horticulturalist and farmer lives at Moundville; Townley found Talinum terretifolium and other plants; is author of paper in Downings Horticulturalist and Albany Cultivator; Indians in vicinity exhibit original customs; time for them to leave their land; addicted to drink; many Indians down Fox River are sober and industrious; government should provide homes, tools and instructions in agricultural; should banish whiskey and bad men from among them; Fox River country described.
