Stem simple, nearly rectilinear; surface nearly even, cylindric or compressed, sometimes apparently striated. Frequently acute at one extremity.

Usually almost smooth, rarely groved transversely; position upright, always ending with the upper surface of a layor or rock, usually enlarged at the upper extremity [Probably a perforation made by a worm]
