Stem simple, nearly rectilinear; surface
nearly even, cylindric or compressed,
sometimes apparently striated. Frequently
acute at one extremity.

L. 2 to 6 inches. D. 0.1 to 0.4 - (2 or

Usually almost smooth, rarely groved
transversely; position upright, always ending
with the upper surface of a layor or rock,
usually enlarged at the upper extremity
