Adams County.

With the exception of a few unimportant expansions of Yellow and the Lemonweir rivers there are no lakes in this county.

Towards the northern part of the county are some extensive marshes affording an abundance of cranberries, which have been made a source of profit by the early settlers and explorers of the country.

No limestone has been found in Adams county; the only underlying rock being sandstone. Near the south line of the county some beds of iron ore have been discovered; but their extent and value is not known.

The LaCrosse & Milwaukee rail road has been located through this county along the valley of the Lemonweir.
