Syn. C. digitalis, Schw. (not of Willd)

Sterile spike solitary, with a few fertile
flowers at the apex; fertile spikes filiform
slender, pendulous loose-flowered, on long
very delicate peduncles; perigynia oblong
obtuse slightly nerved, slightly oblique at the
orifice; longer than the oblong awned scale.
Culm one to two feet high; flowers in
May. About moist grounds

Wisconsin, Southern Indiana, Michigan,
about Lake Superior. Also in the
Arctic regions.
