9 Cyperus Houghtonii Torrey.

Umbel simple, the rays few, very short;
involucre 2 or 3 leaved; spikelets linear-oblong, few,
approximated towards the summit of the rays
6 to 8 flowered; scales roundish ovate, obtuse, slightly
mucronate rachis scarcely margined; achenium
short, ovate, obtuse. Culm 4 inches high,
obtusely triangular; rhizomes short, tuberous.

"Lake of the Isles Northwest Territory" -- probably
in Minnesota.
