vulgaris, Say. Obscure, on each elytron three whitish bands, two of which are
curved and the intermediate one refracted. L. 3/5 inch (obliquata dej.) Mass.

unipunctata, Fab. Dull cupreous, obscure, nakid, base of the mandibles; labrum
and marginal dot on each elytron white. 7/10
sexguttata, Fab. Greenish blue polished each elytron with three marginal white
dots, the two first nearly equal, the last transverse & terminal 1/2 Mass
dorsalis, Say. [See page 17] (signata dej.) Mass.
marginata, Fab. Olivaceous, obscure, sometimes with cupreous reflections; cheeks
sides of the trunk & of the abdomen with short dense hair, each elytron
with a whitish margin; two abbreviate branches, an intermediate refracted one
and two dots at base. 1/2 ( C. variegata Dej.) Mass.
obscura, Fab. Black; each elytron with two white marginal spots and a terminal lunule 1/2
purpurea, Oliar. Head, impressed lines of the thorax, and margin of the elytra
green, the latter with a central reclivate, oblique abbreviated band, terminal
line & intermediate dot white. 3/5 Mass
punctulata, Oliver. Obscure, cupreous, beneath varied with blue & purple
each elytron with a few white points and terminal lunule, an undulated
line of distant green punctures near the suture. 1/2 Mass

violacea, Fab. Bright blue, polished, labrum white; with elevated scabrous
punctures; antennae dark brown at tip. [ only a variety of sexquittata]

micans, Fab. Head & thorax cupreous polished; elytra obscure; minute points
and lunule at the apex white. ( Perhaps a variety of C. punctulata _ S.)

ornata, S. Rufous; head & elytra black; the latter with a yellowish edge
and four spots 1/5 to 1/4 ( Carabus 4 = notatus Melsh analis dej) Mass
viridis, S. Green, polished immaculate; antennae palpis & feet black 1/5
platicollis. S. Rufous; Cymindis. elytra black=brown, edged with rufous, margin
of the thorax depressed 2/5 Mass
