Dear Sir
I will accept the position you offered me while in Milwaukee of assistant Geologist in charge of the southwestern part of the State. Provided the State will pay me a salary of fifteen hundred dollars ($1500) per year and my expenses while in the field such as board travelling and other incidentals arising from the work.

mence on May 15th and says the work will probably consume a month. I feel under some obligation to him to do his work if possible. I wrote him I would request you to defer commencing my part of the survey until the 16th of June, which I should be pleased to have you do, and that if you consented to this I would go.
I see the law requires "that the "Survey commence by the 1st of "June or as soon thereafter as "practicable."
Please let me know your decision as soon as possible so that I can give him a definite answer.
Very truly yours,
Moses Strong
