I have thoroughly reviewed all
the cases mentioned of of the ^supposed^ oc-
currence of human remains in
deposits older than the "recent."

The copper rod is similar to that
of Mr P. which I have figured.
Those fluted axes are unique. Mr.
P. showed me a drawing of a very
fine one. The most I can
now do is to make a note of
the fact.

I see you spell "Bysicon." I
always trusted to poor Stimpson
in these matters & in the proof
of my academy article, he
spells "Busycon" — I have no [an?]=
[illegible] in my library but Wood-
ward's Man of Mollusca. (1851)
where the old name is relevant.
If I could get to the academy I
could settle this matter. If you have
the authority at hand, please refer to it.

With many thanks - Truly JWF.
