Sir
Your letter of the 10th inst asking authority to exhibit the records of the [river?] gauge & Anemograph [anemograph] in the "Fair Buildings" has just been rec'd.
As it is desirable to aid this object in every way, and no danger of loss is apprehended, the desired authority is granted.

Dear Sir:
Tomorrow I send to the Express office in Mezo manie [Mazomanie] (I live of my farm 6 miles from it) one Box with your address containing the shells after the Catalogue I have send you, paked [packed] up with great care and every single shell in a paper with the name of it.
Take great care if you open it not to mix or exchange them. I have no books more to name them, and my memory is not as strong to know the names after 18 years I am here. I want to know if the purchasher is a learned Conchiliologue if he know the names of the shells from this country? I find only a few and very sparingly, the Helix are represented only by 1 species, [flasilio?] none, aquatilia few, the anodonta and [urnio?] in the lakes by Madison and the Wisconsin River are more and several species.

but I know not one by name, if he want to have it, I send him all I have with pleasure for nothing. Do he know to arrange it? I had it fixed up in the old country on white pasteboards and cut in small pieces, like the model you find in the box. Where I had no place, I put them on smal [small] boards close together. I had a full days work to put it in papers and the purchaser will have 3-4 days to fix it in order and write the names, I would help him if I would be near Milwaukee. The composition to adhere it is the best to take beeswax, resin and made soft with Turpentine Spirit, like grafting wax.
I hope you received the [Bonleaux] I have send you last week and you must have one more next week.

Please tell me soon if you have received the Box in good order.
On my table of the Rhynchotas the first insect, the louse is forgotten. I could not find any in my neighborhood, the day after I had send it away a boy brought my [me] a whole family, old and young ones, it was to [too] late.
Respectfully yours
Alex. Seiler [illegible]

My dear Sir:
I am very much obliged for the 2 [illegible] [illegible]. I have your latest, to go into an herbarium. & that too, coupled with [those?] heretofore desiderata.
I don't think it makes much difference what we do, in this life, so that we are usefully busy. That you are, but yet I do wish that you had more time to devote to Nat. Science. [Natural Science]
I inclose [enclose] a couple of labels &c [etc]
I was up at 3 1/2 this morning. Have been at ink & my plants wilt now. 5/20 and must close this & put it in the P.O. and hurry to the cars. I have a holiday.
Mo. truly & resp'y yours,
G. W. Clinton
