...plans of moving bridge, one for our office & another for the directors which took me until the middle of the afternoon - After this I went to Louisville, got a letter out of the P.O. for Mr. Henry from Mr. White who states that he will leave the Lehigh canal for this place. He says he has received Mr. Henry's letter requesting him to purchace a level which he will do & bring it on with him. He also requests Mr. Henry to 'hold on' to the level he has now in his possession that he wants to see Judge Bates' claim before he lets him have it.

In the evening I got a letter from Pazzi Lapham dated at Chillicothe Ohio Wed May 27th 1829 This morning I put in the post office a letter to Darius. Then went up the canal in the forenoon - In the afternoon I done some work on the canal vis taking levels on the earth remaining to be excavated by Sutherland & Adams. At night I took a pill consisting of a mixture of calomel and [illegible].
