Mr. Taylor in the evening brought me from some of his friends in Louisville a specimen of Tale & two species of sea corral in the recent state. I also got otday a specimen of quarts incrusted with calcedony from Missouri.
Monday May 4th
Worked on the canal most of the time - Had a specimen of quarts invested with botryordal...

Done some work on the canal & I went to Louisville.
May 6th
Was a very hot day though cold in the morning. I went up the canal and continued on to Louisville in the forenoon to see Dr. Fitch who has had a book of mine for some time & has not read it through yet. In the afternoon I helped do some work with the level along the canal.
