At evening I received a letter from Pazzie saying that he wants me ot get him a situation at some printing office in Louisville.
March 28
After doing some work on the bridge I went on to Louisville and found no situation for Pazzi. The fields begin to look green.
March 29
This after noon I went over to Rock Island with Mr. Taylor and got several specimens of shells.

The weather which for a few days back has been so smoky as almost to obscure the sun, changed last night to rainy. The rain continues the greater part of the day.
Monday March 30 1829
The rain has ceased and the day is fair. I went down to Portland this morning to get some castings that were there belonging to the canal and on the way I observed that the [Elur?] was in flower or had commenced flowering.
