In the forenoon I went to Louisville to church - heard an excellent sermon delivered by the Rev. Mr. Bascom at the Methodist Church - In the afternoon I set in my room reading Popes Poetry &c &c.

This fore noon I wrote a letter to Pazzi and in the afternoon I went to Louisville and put it in the post office. I stayed their [sic] until night, took supper at Mr Allans tavern with Dr. Fitch and then went to hear Mr. Bascom deliver...

an address on the subject of African colonization or the project of collonizing [sic] the free black people of the U.S. on the western coast of Africa. I met Mr. Henry & Mr. Taylor there and we came home together about 10 o'clock at night. A society has been formed in Louisville called the 'Louisville Colonisation Society' and is auxilliary to the Am. Col. Society at Washington.
