Ma'râtā 8:00 A.M. Temp 67° Baro. L 28.17 clear, calm

Left camp 8:42 going S.E. over plowed fields to 9:05 il-Fa'lûl, a medium
sized ruin uninhabited with interesting remains of Rotunda church with
part of W. wall standing, lower corners of Basalt, and above Lime -
inside were large block of wall? cut marble many of them. Lintel very large
nearby to E. dated 526 A.D. There isin the place a group of arches (see B)

Left 11:42 going 120° to iṣ-Ṣekê'ah 12:24 small inhabited (30) basalt
one square town bldg. in nearly a complete state of preservation inside
and out, except lintel which was chipped so badly that nearly all
the inscription was gone. Left 2:58 going S.W. to il-Habbâṭ small complete
ruin, church in foundation & part of a pyramid (tomb ?) B.Basalt. Left 4:02
going S. by W. to 4:15 Kursenteh, a quite extensive ruin complete with church
in foundation, place situated on top of a roll of country commanding an
extensive view of country in all directions, especially to N. & S. To N. can
be seen Shêkh Berekât and to the S. Djebel Zain il-'Ābidîn near Hâmā.
What looked like several small unimportant ruins could be made out
indestinctly? through the haze to the S. and S.S.E. Left 4:34 going S. to
il-Burdj 4:50. Small ruin with little standing but part of S & W. wall
of tower. (L & Basalt) Left 5:30 passing through Ṣurrumân 6:00 a modern
village (300 pop. est) on ancient site - no stop - passed through il-Fa'lûl 6:45
arrived camp 7:10
